Author: Debbie Gonnello Subject: Space Game Grade Level: 3-8 Teacher Presentation: Yes Student Activities: Yes Materials Needed: Poster Board, Construction Paper Lesson Time: Varies Description: Students make their own Space Game to help reinforce their knowledge of Outer Space. When laminated, the games can be used for extra practice, free time in the classroom, and especially for those dreaded in-door recess times. Procedure: During a unit on Space, have students design a Space Game. The students may work individually or in small groups. Provide each group with a poster board. The students design a gameboard like Monopoly, Clue, Trivial Pursuit, etc., however, they use Space as their theme. The board should cover the entire poster and have lots of color! The students make game cards with questions and answers about Space. They need to provide a written description of the rules for the game. They should include dice, a spinner, or some way for the players to move around the gameboard. The rest is up to their imagination! Allow time for the students to describe their games, and if possible for a chance to play!
